We’re excited to welcome the community back to Adama Farm for the McHenry County Farm Stroll for the second year!
The McHenry County Farm Stroll is a free, self-guided tour of family farms throughout McHenry County, giving visitors the opportunity to see where their food is grown, meet local farmers, learn about agriculture, and shop directly from participating farms.

You’re welcome to stop by anytime between 10 AM and 4 PM. For those who would like a deeper look at the farm, Jessi will be leading two guided farm tours throughout the day.
Guided Farm Tours
11 AM–12 PM

Tours will begin at our greenhouse, where we start our seedlings, before heading out into the growing fields.
Along the way, we’ll explore:
Our greenhouse and how we start crops from seed
Our vegetable fields and no-till growing system
Why regenerative agriculture and soil health are at the heart of our farm
How and why we grow certain crops in high tunnels
Our farm irrigation system
How we source and use mulch
The role of cover crops in building healthy soil, suppressing weeds, and supporting the farm ecosystem
Our barn renovation and our vision for hosting future farm events
Whether you’re a gardener, interested in regenerative agriculture, curious about where your food comes from, or simply want to spend a fall day exploring local farms, we’d love to have you!

Autumn Drive
Autumn Drive at Adama Farm
October 16th–18th 2026
Join us for Autumn Drive, a beloved fall tradition at Adama Farm celebrating the beauty of the season, the harvest, and time spent together on the land.
Over the course of three crisp October days, the farm will be open for visitors to wander, shop, and soak in the magic of fall in Northern Illinois.
What to Expect:
Seasonal farm stand offerings

A cozy, welcoming farm atmosphere
Time to explore the property, gardens, and grounds
Local makers, artisans, coffee and special touches throughout the weekend

This event is family-friendly and open to the public. Whether you’re a longtime CSA member, a neighbor, or visiting for the first time, we’d love to welcome you to the farm.

Garlic Planting
Garlic Planting at Adama Farm

Come spend a fall morning on the farm and help us plant our 2027 garlic crop!
Garlic is one of our favorite crops to grow, and it all starts in the fall. Together, we’ll plant individual garlic cloves by hand and tuck the beds in with a layer of straw mulch to protect them through the winter.
Once planted, the garlic will begin establishing itself throughout the fall before settling in for the colder months. Come spring, it will emerge again and really take off as we head into early summer, eventually becoming the garlic we’ll harvest next season.
What to Expect
This is a hands-on volunteer workday, so come prepared to get dirty! We spend quite a bit of time kneeling, crouching, bending over, and working close to the ground while planting.
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring work/gardening gloves if you'd like to use them, as well as water and snacks as needed.
As a thank-you for lending a hand, volunteers are welcome to take home some garlic from our 2026 harvest!
No farming experience is necessary — just come ready to spend the morning outside, get your hands in the soil, and help us tuck next year's garlic crop in for the winter.

Garlic Harvest

Join us for one of our favorite days of the season—garlic harvest!
This is our first year inviting our community to experience a real harvest day on the farm. Spend the morning outdoors pulling fresh garlic from the field, meeting fellow local food lovers, and getting a behind-the-scenes look at how your food is grown.
Whether you're a CSA member, a longtime supporter, or simply curious about sustainable farming, we'd love to have you join us. No farming experience is necessary—just a willingness to get your hands dirty!
What to Expect
We'll begin with a quick demonstration on how to properly harvest and cure garlic. Throughout the morning you'll learn about our regenerative farming practices, ask questions, and experience a harvest that's equal parts hard work and fun.
As a thank you for volunteering, you'll head home with some freshly harvested Adama Farm garlic.
What to Wear
Garlic harvest is one of the more physically demanding harvests of the season, so come prepared!
We recommend:
Closed-toe shoes or boots you don't mind getting dirty
Comfortable and breathable clothing you can move around in
Gardening or work gloves (highly recommended if you blister easily)
A hat for sun protection
Sunscreen
Bug spray
Layers if the morning is cool
What to Bring
Plenty of water
Snacks if you'd like
A positive attitude and willingness to help!
Weather
This event is weather permitting.
If it is not raining, we will harvest as planned. In the event of rain or unsafe weather conditions, the harvest will be postponed.
Parking
Please park in the designated parking lot upon arrival. From there, volunteers will walk out to the garlic field together. Signs will be posted, and we'll help direct you when you arrive.
We can't wait to share one of the most exciting harvests of the year with you. Thank you for supporting local agriculture—we'll see you in the garlic field!
Children & Pets
Children are welcome with adult supervision. For the safety of our crops, volunteers, and farm animals, please leave pets at home.
Registration
No registration needed! Just come as you are and join us in the field. Whether you're a longtime supporter or it's your first visit to Adama Farm, everyone is welcome. We'll be harvesting from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM, so feel free to arrive anytime during the event.
Petal & Paint
Welcome to Petal & Paint at Adama Farm!
Join us for an unforgettable August afternoon at Adama Farm during peak summer abundance, blooms, and full-spectrum color.
Petal & Paint is a two-part guided workshop where you’ll design your own lush summer bouquet from fresh-cut farm flowers and paint a miniature still life of your creation on canvas.
Whether you're celebrating a birthday, planning a girls' day out, hosting your parents in town, or just looking to romanticize your summer, this is your sign to take a break from the city and indulge in nature, creativity, and connection.
What’s Included:
A bouquet-making tutorial led by our founder and farmer, Jessi Davies
A DIY farm-fresh flower bouquet in a mason jar
A guided painting session with one of our farmers and resident painter, Madison Roberson
A custom mini masterpiece of your bouquet, painted by you! (canvas + supplies provided)
Light farm-to-table snacks and refreshments
Time to explore, create, and relax

We’re a flower and vegetable farm in Marengo, IL, just an hour outside of Chicago. Plenty of free parking is available onsite. The event will take place inside of our Art Studio.
What to Bring:
Your friends, siblings, parents, coworkers, or just yourself—and clothes you don’t mind painting in. We’ll provide the rest!
Our studio space is limited, so tickets will sell out quickly! We can’t wait to spend the afternoon with you!
Summer Potluck

Join us for a fun and relaxed community potluck at Adama Farm. Bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy delicious food, great company, a farm tour & jams. Whether you're a foodie or just looking to hang out surrounded by a beautiful farmscape, this potluck is the perfect way to spend a summer evening.

We’re a flower and vegetable farm in Marengo, IL, just an hour outside of Chicago. Plenty of free parking is available onsite. The community potluck will take place near the picnic tables, right outside of our farm store.
What to Bring:
A dish to share + BYOB! Bring your friends, family, coworkers, or just yourself. We’ll provide the vibes!
Seedling Sale
Beginning May 9th and every following week until June 21st, Adama Farm will be selling a limited selection of farm grown seedlings for $4 / pot. These are the same varieties we grow in our fields — strong, healthy, nurtured and pesticide free! All seedlings have been hardened off, are adapted to local conditions and ready for transplanting.
You will find a seasonal mix of:
Tomatoes (paste, heirloom & cherry varieties)
Peppers (sweet & hot varieties)
Cucumbers (pickling and slicing varieties)
Marigolds (tangerine gem)
Brassicas (cauliflower & kale)
Squash (summer, patty pan & zucchini)
Swiss Chard (rainbow)
Basil (Italian)
As the weather warms, we will be putting out different crops and varieties. Quantities are limited and will change week to week. First come, first serve. Must pay via cash, Venmo or Zelle & checkout in the farm store, open daily from dawn til dusk!
